"Everything we see is another thing, we always want to see what is hidden by what we see."
With this phrase, the famous Belgian painter René Magritte, described his work The Son of Man (French: Le fils de l'homme) of 1964, painted as a self-portrait.
From the very invention of photography and doing the same in the world of the portrait, countless artists represented themselves through a self-portrait. Reflecting from an own realism that gives the photographic technique, to the materialization of concepts through the use of the symbolic and the psychological, as did Magritte, Da Vinci Rembrand, among others.
In this search to represent the invisible, we find the work of photographer Monica Scafuro, an artist and model who, in addition to self-portraying herself, works around the idea of representing emotions, passion, sensitivity and beautifulness. The work she does with her models is impeccable. Using the nude as an expressionistic resource, her images are loaded with sensuality, as well as extreme delicacy, which allows her works to be exposed without problem in the main social networks of today.
Paraphrasing and reinterpreting an idea that I read somewhere, I think that the more willing the artist is to approach the symbolic, surrealist and expressionist styles, the more the artist's mind will be revealed.
We bring you a selection of some of her works, all full of emotions, femininity and sensitivity. And the best, especially dedicated for you, our readers.

Édouard Manet's Olympia, a controversial painting and ahead of its time. It not only shows us Manet's intention to break with the traditional schemes of painting but also a vanguardist vision of society, among them, the fact of showing the nudity of a woman in an artistic work, the power relations between classes and the freedom of a woman to defend her style and way of life.
Édouard Manet was undoubtedly an NSFW artist, ahead of his time, a genius who was able to capture the changes experienced by the society of his time.

"When our artists give us Venuses, they correct nature, they lie. Édouard Manet asked himself why lie, why not tell the truth; he introduced us to Olympia, this fille of our time, whom you meet on the sidewalks".Émile Zola
